AeroPress Brew Guide
Get Organized
You will need:
- Aero Press brewer
- Aero Press filter
- Grinder
- 1 AeroPress Scoop (17g or 2 ½ Tablespoons) of coffee
- Hot water just off the boil (about 205°F)
- AeroPress paddle or spoon
- Timer
- Mug
Prep the Press
Place the filter into the AeroPress basket. Next, rinse the filter with hot water to get rid of any paper flavours and warm up the brewer. You can heat your mug up with hot water while you are at it.
Discard the rinse water from your mug. Attach the basket to the bottom of the brew chamber and place it on top of the mug. If it’s handy, use the funnel (or coffee loader) that comes with the AeroPress to add 17g of coffee. Then, remove the funnel.
Boil the water and when it is just off the boil, about 205 F, pour the hot water into the brewer.
Plunge
Once you’ve filled the brewer, mix the coffee and water mixture and place the plunger on the brew chamber. Pull up gently to create a pressure seal, but don’t plunge just yet!
After 1:15, remove the pressure seal and give the mixture another stir. Put the plunger back on and gently press down with a consistent pressure. The entire brew process should take around two minutes and produce seven to eight ounces of coffee.
Enjoy!
How to Brew With a Chemex
Step 1: Organize
To brew in a Chemex, you will need:
- 6-cup Chemex
- Chemex Filter
- Grinder
- 40g (6 tablespoons) of fresh roasted coffee
- Kettle
- Hot water just off the boil ( 640g or 22oz at 94ºC (205°F)
- Scale
- Timer
- Stir stick
- Cool Mug
Step 2: Prep
- Fold the filter place inside the Chemex. Rinse the filter with 1-2 C of hot water. Then dump out that water.
- Weigh 40 g of coffee (about 6 tablespoons and grind on a coarse setting.
- Add the ground coffee to the chemex and place on the scale and tare scale.
Step 3: Start Brewing
Add 2/3 cups of hot water to the coffee grounds, pouring in circles in order to get all the grinds wet. Pouring in circles helps keep the brew consistent and even. Use the back of a wooden spoon to stir the water and grinds together and then wait 30 seconds.
There should be a crust on the top of the coffee grinds now. Slowly pour in circles again to break all of that crust up. Add another one cup of water and wait until the water level drops by 1/2 inch.
Step 4: Brew
- When the water has dropped, add in the remaining water.
- The entire pouring process should take place in 2-2.5 minutes.
- Wait for the coffee to finish filtering and then remove the filter and place in the compost.
Step 5: Enjoy
- Serve your coffee in beautiful mugs to your family, best friends or lover.
- Our coffee pairs perfectly with a view of the coast.
- Experience the difference.
